The first thing to know about work permits in Dubai is that there are three types of work permits. The first category is for those who have a bachelor’s degree or higher and the second category is for those who have a post-secondary diploma in any field, as well as the third category is for those with a high school diploma.

To be eligible for one of these categories, you must meet certain requirements and fulfill certain conditions. These include:

  • Age 18 years.
  • Your employer’s business license must be current.
  • Your employer must not have violated any laws.
  • Your work must be in line with the nature of your employer’s business.


The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has a very strict immigration policy. The country requires all foreigners to obtain a work permit before they can legally enter the country and work there.

The UAE government takes 5 working days to approve your work permit application. Once it’s approved, you’ll receive an original copy of your work permit in the mail.

  • Your original passport with a copy.
  • Passport-size photograph.
  • To qualify for a job with the UAE, you must have approval from both the UAE Embassy or Consulate in your nation and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of your country.
  • A medical certificate from a government-approved health center must be presented in order to gain entry into the United Arab Emirates.
  • The company card or license of the company that is hiring you.
  • After you submit your application, it will take the government five working days to grant you a work permit.
