On October 31, 2022, the Portugal Job Seeker visa was introduced by the government of Portugal in order to facilitate foreign nationals that entering that are entering the country for employment purposes. As per the statistics and announcement by the government of Portugal, this visa was launched for the sole purpose of mitigating the labour shortage in the country.
Candidates are allowed to enter Portugal for a period of three months and search for a job with this visa, this visa permits applicants to take up work activities as long as their visa is valid for the duration of 3 months until a residency permit is granted.
The validity for this visa is 120 days and be extended for 60 more days. This visa allows one individual to enter Portugal.
This visa allows candidates to secure a job contract within the stipulated time frame of 120 days, if the employment is secured, then they are allowed to apply for a residency permit as well.
If the validity of the visa is about to expire and the candidate fails to secure an employment bond or contract, or they have failed to initiate the request for residency permit issuance. They have to exit out of the country if this happens.
If the visa validity is about to expire or has expired, in such conditions, the candidate is allowed to apply for a new visa one year after the expiration of the previous visa.
If a job seeker sends a request to extend their visa, they are requested to submit evidence of registration with I.P., IEFP, and also a declaration stating the stay conditions planned are met which will be evaluated taking into the reasons for granting the visa.
Proof of funds must be equivalent to the minimum three-monthly minimum earnings. However, this proof of fund requirement can be exempted if a Portuguese citizen or a lawful resident is approving for your food and accommodation and also approves a deportation cost in case of an abnormal stay.
The person undertaking the responsibility of the applicant will be required to show proof of funds. The minimum required amount if thrice the amount of minimum monthly income i.e. approx. 63849 INR (€705).
The candidate is required to pay more than one fee while applying for a Portugal Job Seeker visa.
